FAQ & Rules of the Pages & Groups that are part of the Tassie Detecting Facebook .

I am Nicole Beltane (You will see my name crop up from time to time). As the co-Admin, Social Media Advisor & Owner of Tassie Detecting i mostly spend my time accepting new members into the Facebook Pages / Groups that we run. (there is a list of these provided at the end of this message).

There are not many rules of the Facebook Pages / Groups. But i hope that you will adhere to the ones that we have set down.

Welcome to Tassie Detecting & Facebook Pages / Groups.

The Tassie Detecting page been set up to share new products that will come into the retail shop and online store. We reserve the right to find new products and bring them to you’re attention. It is you’re right to like or dislike them, we are not forcing you to buy them, just giving you more options to enhance you’re hobby.

Tassie Detecting is filled with a positive community of friendly, supportive Metal Detectorist’s.

If we all abide by the rules, offer each other support and respect difference in opinions, the page can be a well-managed and pleasant place for all members.

Please treat people, as reasonable people would like to be treated in real life.

The group is managed by Jack & Nicole Beltane. This is not a heavily moderated group, we are adults and I hope that we can behave like adults.

The below rules are necessary, but for the most part the page runs beautifully and doesn't require any {or very little} moderation at all. I’d like to continue this way.

By posting on this page, you hereby agree to abide by these rules. These rules apply to posts and photo uploads. Please note that we reserve the right to remove any posts that are deemed inappropriate as determined at my absolute discretion. We also reserve the right, at our discretion, to remove any member who spams or acts inappropriately on the page. This happens very rarely, but will be done so in order to keep the group running harmoniously.

Unfortunately in moderating this page there are no temporary measures {i.e. we can't lock posts, hide things, or leave images up but close the comments}. There is no temporary function available to Facebook groups / pages, so when a photo, post or comment is deleted it is final. We have to work with what we have.

One of the best things we can do, to keep the Page running smoothly and remaining the positive, friendly place it is - is to not get up in arms when you feel something isn't right. As it can incite debate, drama and really change the energy on the page. Instead addressing it by sending me an email (tassiedetecting@tassiedetecting.net), or even taking a step back, having a think if it’s really a big issue, and then coming back when you’ve had a bit of a breather {a great excuse to have a coffee or get some fresh air}. As in life, we're not going to LOVE everything we see, but we can walk past it and ignore it.

THE RULES

Advertising

You must not post material for commercial purposes - including promotional material or advertising. You may not promote any businesses without the consent of the admins. We will with permission happily promote you’re business if it is within relation to the hobby.

Banned

Any members acting inappropriately continually, or spamming may by banned indefinitely from the group. This includes those who only join to sell shoes and handbags.

Censorship & Freedom of Speech

In Australia the only protected form of speech is that of a political nature. Private entities cannot, by definition, be guilty of censorship. To help improve the quality of discussion, and in the interest of fairness and balance, we have the ability to remove posts and photos from the group as determined at my absolute discretion.

Defamation

Please do not create any posts that may be defamatory. This basically means that if you say anything that might lower or damage an identifiable person’s reputation, it will be removed (regardless of whether or not it is true). Even if you do not name the individual other information may achieve the same result.

Discrimination and Harassment

You must not discriminate or vilify any other person, including based on their race, ethnicity, religion or sexual preference. This includes jokes. Intolerance and vilification extends to weight, hair colour, and IQ.

Indecent, Obscene and Inappropriate Content

You must not post anything unlawful, obscene, defamatory, indecent, offensive or inappropriate. This includes but is not limited to images that are pornographic or offensive.

Admin Decisions

Please respect that our admin/s are real people who give so much of their valuable time to the Tassie Detecting webpage, Retail store and Facebook page and various groups that relate to the hobby. The Admin decisions are final. We will not tolerate arguments or attacks on the admins who are providing a valuable service to all members. From time to time when you do not agree with a decision, take a break, come back to the group and if it remains an unmitigated concern contact the admin via email: tassiedetecting@tassiedetecting.net

If you have concerns or feel something is an issue, please don't start a thread to address it, as this often causes debate. The page doesn't need people policing the rules by commenting on photos reminding people of the rules, or starting topics reiterating the guidelines. The moderation team can moderate. Please email me and I'll decide if your concerns needs to be addressed, and whether that needs to be done publicly or privately.

Posting photos

If you have brought a product from our store and are happy with you’re purchase, please feel free to share a photo of you’re finds and new gadget. We also have other pages listed below that we welcome you’re shares and input on.

Moderation Explanations (Why did my photo/post get removed?)

Please do not start a new thread asking why a post was deleted, or to discuss the removal or a post or a decision made by the admin team. If you want to know why, please email the admin team, but please do not ask the community or incite the community into debate. We simply do not have time to enter into (often long and heated) discussions explaining our actions.

Personal Attacks, Offensive & Aggressive Behaviour, Inflammatory Remarks

Do not antagonise, offend, insult, bully, humiliate or harass any other member. If you must disagree with someone, criticise the idea not the person. Personal attacks and inflammatory remarks will not be tolerated. It is possible to have a healthy discussion without making personal comments. Do not start posts with the aim of attacking, criticizing or offending another member.
Offensive behaviour will not be tolerated, saying things in an aggressive or hurtful manner can result in your post or comment being removed.

Even if a comment or post doesn't break the rules, if it is inflammatory, has the potential to hurt, offend or incite a backlash, admin reserve the right to remove at their discretion.

Privacy and Copyright

Photos must be your own, or you must have ownership of the photos you share. Photos may be removed if you are not the owner, or ownership can not be proven. If you have taken the photo i suggest that you add a watermark to it, and this can be done by uploading it to a photo editor site such as photoshop, or pic monkey.com, picasa.com.

Reporting Offensive Posts

I feel strongly about making our group a pleasant place for our members to socialise so when you see a post that is offensive or breaks the rules please feel free to email me: tassiedetecting@tassiedetecting.net. but please make sure you include a link to the post in question. If you don’t your email may be ignored.

Please also use your common sense, if the post if only slightly offensive and you can scroll past and enjoy the rest of the post/photos – please do so.

Repetitive Debates

Where a thread has reached a point where there is no consensus and members are become increasingly frustrated and hostile with no new viewpoints being offered, moderators may choose to delete the post on the basis of repetitive debate.

Trolls and Flame wars

Making intentionally inflammatory remarks to incite conflict, offence, controversy or annoyance is considered ‘trolling' and will not be tolerated. If people are abusing this rule - simply report them - and ignore them. Trolls aim is to get attention, disrupt the group and cause trouble, so do not give them what they want.

If you have any comments or queries about the rules please contact either Jack Beltane or Nicole Beltane or via the email address that has been provided.

Thank you and please enjoy the groups & pages that we provide for you’re enjoyment.
